I want to applaud you for choosing your family first!! I have been homeschooling for 19 years, with one more year to go. I can honestly say I have never regretted it!
Now that my youngest is 17, I feel like I might be able to enjoy making candles. I am actually starting this with my 2 adult daughters. I want to thank you for all of the information.

i want to start a candle buisness but I’ve sold a few but dnt know where to market or advertise without spending alot of money and get nowhere been there done that

We love making soy candles! It doesn’t require a lot of money to get started (we put about $150 into it) and you can start selling straight away 🙂 Make sure to start with perfecting the creation process, you don’t want to sell a bad product. After that come up with all the branding and designs – that’s the most fun part for us. After that build, you’re website/store which can be easily done in a couple of hours with something like Wix or Shopify. We went with WordPress for our just because we had some experience in it. You can have a look at our website and see an example of what can be done! 😀

Flee markets could definitely be a great way to sell candles. We don’t have much in the way of flee markets around here where I live, so I’ve never tried it, but I imagine it is probably similar to a Saturday market, so you might check out my post on selling at Saturday Market for some tips: http://soycandlemakingtime.com/selling-soy-candles-at-saturday-market/ You might stop by those flee markets and see if anyone else is selling candles. If not, this could be a good or bad thing. It could mean that others have tried selling candles there, but they didn’t sell well, or maybe there just aren’t really any candle makers in the area, which could be good for you. If there are others selling candles there, that is probably a sign that it could be a good market to sell at.

I am retired after 37 years of driving truck. I am always looking for a neat home based business. I have heard people talk about soy candles then I found your comments. I live in west central Illinois, a rural farming area. I am about 220 miles from Chicago, 200 miles from St. Louis about 350 from Kansas City and the same to Minneapolis. My thoughts was to make the candles, then once a week go to one of these cities flee markets and sell my candles. What are your thoughts on this way of selling soy candles? Thank You for your time.
